Local Update: New Recreational Park at Harvest at Limoneira
A much-needed expansion of Santa Paula's recreational and green spaces
Approved by voters in 2008. Stuck in limbo for nearly ten years. Waiting out a recession and navigating an endless series of bureaucratic hoops. Ground officially broken in 2017.
Welcome to Harvest at Limoneira, arguably Santa Paula’s most ambitious new housing and community development.
Since 2018, Harvest has provided much-needed housing to the residents of the Santa Clara River Valley, with at least a few of the buyers we know skewing younger and just beginning to start families of their own.
The development includes plans for a sports park and recreation area, which are just now coming into fruition.
Our intrepid pooper, Ruby, and I took a little jaunt out to Santa Paula’s east side to see what’s what. Many of the fields are still being surveyed and constructed, and are off-limits behind temporary fencing, but there are some walkable areas around what will one day be an amphitheater. Not to mention, some great views of the area mountains.

The park also includes garbage and recycling barrels every so many feet, poop-bag stations, and water fountains. The bell-shaped lamps are a nice nod to the old mission bells of "The Camino Real” (now Highways 1 and 101) but are decidedly modern in their function.
Check it out if you’re in the area. And here’s to more recreational opportunities in “The S.P.”!
