Mother's Day
Here's to you...
Here’s to anyone who has raised, or is raising, children. To anyone who’s known the exhaustion and isolation of midnight feedings and feeling like you’re never enough, the pride of watching them grow, the heartbreak of having them move out to start lives of their own.
To anyone who’s rescued or adopted a pet that desperately needed a home, who falls in love with those sad, puppy-dog expressions or the mysterious gleam of a cat’s eyes, who’s constantly reminding them: Stop rolling in the mud and don’t eat that, and for God’s sake, stop knocking my stuff off the counter!
To anyone who maintains bird feeders or water fountains, who delights in hearing the chatter of finches and sparrows, who’s ever been buzz-bombed by hummingbirds or heard their strange “teletype” clicks from the nearby trees, who doesn’t know whether to protest or laugh when the resident squirrel decides to pole dance on the feeders and purloin a few tasty morsels.
Here’s to anyone who’s ever cultivated a garden.
Been an aunt. Or a teacher or a mentor. Helped a kid with their homework.
Here’s to everyone who makes their corners of the world a little brighter for the rest of us.
Here’s to you! I hope you had a wonderful day. You deserve it.
With love,
Dee
